Making homemade dinner rolls is easier than you might think, and they taste delicious! Here's a simple recipe to get you started:
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, and yeast. Stir until the yeast is dissolved. Add sugar and butter, and stir to combine.
Beat in the egg and salt.
Add the flour, one cup at a time, stirring until the dough comes together.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm, draft-free place for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and shape into small balls. Place the balls in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each one.
Cover with a clean towel and let rise again for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Brush the rolls with melted butter and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy your delicious homemade dinner rolls!
